I spent the first 18 years of my life in the same house. But in the past few months I've done enough boxing up, taping shut, loading, and unloading to make up for those long-lived, cozy years. My husband and I moved, my parents moved, and my in-laws moved all in the span of 4 months.
iy-yiy-iy (...is that how you spell that?)
It's been a doozy, but it's over now, and for the first time in months I'm really home. You'll understand when I say, I plan on being a hermit this winter. Don't you worry though, I have plenty of projects to keep me busy. (Cue creepy smirk and finger twiddle.)
The first and largest of those projects involved painting my new living room. Many people's first question when I told them was, "what color?" I replied in an excited, yet bland tone "White!...just white". Truth is, it really is the only color I can comfortably work with in my current stage of life.
While still figuring out my style, I think I've landed on a pretty steady color scheme. Earth tones – including, but not limited to, warm brown, burnt orange, burgundy, and tan. There are a few accent tones here and there such as mustard and teal, but other than that, I'm pretty picky when it comes to adding color to my home – unless it's greenery of course.
I want my home to be an open and inviting space where I can easily, and comfortably, continue to discover and curate my own, unique style.
So there you have it – white walls.
Happy Painting!
